Power Output and Efficiency
The LM6000 turbines deliver power outputs ranging from approximately 40 MW to over 50 MW, with net efficiencies up to 41.4%. This high efficiency makes them suitable for both simple-cycle and combined-cycle power plant configurations.
Fuel Flexibility and Environmental Impact
Designed to operate on natural gas, the LM6000 series can also accommodate a variety of fuels, including renewable energy sources. Notably, GE Vernova has announced plans for the LM6000 to operate on 100% hydrogen, aiming for zero CO₂ emissions and supporting the transition to sustainable energy solutions.
Application and Operating Experience
The LM6000 is used in power generation for combined cycle or peak power. Other applications include combined heat and power for industrial and independent power producers. It has also been found to be widely used in marine propulsion, industrial power generation, and marine power generation.
With over 40 million operating hours and more than 1,300 units shipped, the LM6000 series has a proven track record in various applications, including:
Power Generation: Ideal for combined cycle or peak power plants, providing rapid startup capabilities with a cold iron startup time of approximately 5 minutes.
Industrial and Marine Use: Employed in industrial power generation and marine propulsion, benefiting from their compact size and reliability.
Variation
The GE LM6000 is a series of gas turbines developed by GE Vernova. They are known for their high efficiency, flexibility, and reliability. The series includes the LM6000 PG, LM6000 PF, LM6000 PF+, and LM6000 PC models, each with different specifications and applications.
LM6000 PG:
The LM6000 PG is an aero-derivative gas turbine model that is derived from the CF6-80C2 aircraft turbofan. It has a GTG output of 57+ MW and a net efficiency of up to 41.4%. It operates on various fuels and can quickly switch between fuels to save money, with no interruption in power.
LM6000 PF:
The LM6000 PF is another variant of the LM6000 series. It shares more than 90 percent commonality with previous LM6000 models. It offers higher gas turbine output and combined-cycle efficiency than other products in its class. Some of the latest technologies include super polished compressor airfoils and an upgraded dual-fuel Dry Low Emissions (DLE) combustor.
a
LM6000 PF+:
The LM6000 PF+ is an enhanced version of the LM6000 PF. It is recognized for its increased performance and flexibility. It offers higher gas turbine output (52-58 megawatts) and combined-cycle efficiency (56 percent) than other products in its class. It also employs modern technologies from the GE Store of Solutions to create a more efficient gas turbine with faster installation.
LM6000 PC:
The LM6000 PC is a variant of the LM6000 series that is recognized for high performance, high reliability, and true operational flexibility. It offers a 25 percent simple-cycle power increase and an 18 percent boost in exhaust energy for cogeneration applications. It operates on various fuels and can quickly switch between fuels to save money, with no interruption in power.
